Here are some WIP pics for a commish I am doing for the wonderful Cherith that is based on her fic found here

BEST THING!! I’m so excited for this!

effulgentinara:

Cherith was having a day, so I said I’d draw something Dragon Age-y for her. Then I was having a day, so all I could draw was owls. Then this happened.

I approve of Owlvaline.

Question Meme

Minorearth tagged me, like she does and now there are all these questions I’m supposed to answer.  *stares*

I’m shirking the whole meme process though and just answering questions because I think most people I would tag have already done it more than once.  <3

ON TO THE QUESTIONS!

What’s the first music album you ever bought yourself?

Don’t laugh: Soul 4 Real - Candy Rain

What do you do when you get stressed out? What calms you down the best?

Talk about it.  Talking to people - even when it’s not about my problems is the best stress relief.  Second to that is gaming.

What is your favorite memory from the past year?

Finishing War is Never Cheap Here.

Where do you want to be in five years - physically, mentally, emotionally, creatively?

Awesome places.  I’d love to have finished and sold an original fiction novel.  I want to be through with adoption and see the teen grown up and in college.  Possibly either still fostering or adopting or both.  Happy, healthy… better.

Hit shuffle on your music player. What is the next song that plays? Do you associate it with anything?

Sarah Mclaughlin - Silence.  And yes, it’s very much associated with an old D&D character of mine: Gwen, a bard who saved a god from corruption.  It was a really, really emotional plotline.

Look around you - at your desk, the table nearest you, bookshelf, whatever. Name five things you can see. Tell me a story - even a dumb one - about one of those things.

Three dogs and lots of pillows.  They’re conked out from running around all crazy (the dogs, not the pillows).  No story, it’s the truth.

What’s the last book you read? What’s the best book you’ve read in the past year?

Last book I finished was Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.  The best book was probably The Hunger Games  - but it’s not far enough along in the year yet for me to have a favorite.

Name one fictional character you haven’t written about/drawn (depending on your art form of choice), but would really like to play with someday.

Oh man.  At least for Dragon Age, one of these days I’d like to give some serious writing thought to Sebastian.  And maybe even something with a personal Hawke, because I don’t really do that.

What family member are you closest to? Or, if you’re not close with your blood family, who is the person in your life you consider your closest family?

My dad.  We have always been close.  My dad treated me like an adult in just about every conversation we had - not in a way that I wasn’t allowed to be a kid - but in that he asked my opinions and ideas and listened to them when they were sound.  I’ve always been able to tell him anything.

What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own?

Some really comfy dark wash jeans. They fit right, they’re flattering and I can wear them all day without feeling uncomfortable.

Name one talent - aside from the ones you use in fandom - that you’re proud of.

I have no idea.  I’m told I’m funny?  (Ignoring the fact that once upon a time (and occasionally when I’m bored) I wanted to be a comedian.)

Or… is reading a talent?  *shrugs*

Fic: Like I Bleed - H is for Honor

Letter H in Teagan’s world, from the War is Never Cheap Here universe. (Letter G is here.)  Links to Teagan’s letter “H”s from all three alphabets on AO3 are at the bottom.

This is also another one of the letters where the word is the same for all three of Teagan’s alphabets (WAR, Blight, Romance).  Enjoy!

Also spoilers for WAR if you haven’t read it.

H is for Honor

Cauthrien,

Perhaps it is wrong of me to admit this, but I had considered not writing you back.  It was not because I was unhappy, because I am indeed thrilled by your news.  It was not because I was not eager to respond, because daily I curse the miles between us.  It was only a moment, albeit a small one, where it occurred to me that you might be more content were I not to interfere.

There are not words enough, nor indeed the ink to write them will, to express how happy I -was- am, to know what our month together has brought us.

Currently, I am in Redcliffe with Eamon and Isolde, trying to explain to them, what I cannot even explain to myself- that I want nothing more than to come to Denerim and see you with my own eyes.  To hopefully convince you, if you have not already made your own decision, that there is and will always be a place for you and for our child in Rainesfere.

I know that duty and honor keep you bound to the Queen and I -would- could not ask you to do any less than what your heart leads you to do.  I am writing in the hopes that this letter reaches you before I do, that you know my interest and intentions and that they can better inform the decisions you make.

When my visit here in Redcliffe is complete, I hope to ride for Denerim.  And though that means there are still weeks between us, I am eager to put them and the miles behind me.

With my deepest regards,
Teagan

He signed his letter when a brief hesitation, regards no matter how deeply he could state them in a letter, were not enough.  With his signature and then a seal added to the parchment he pushed away from the desk and made his way to find a messenger.  Barring trouble in Redcliffe or Rainesfere, he intended to arrive within a few days of the letter.  It was better than sending nothing at all, and by now, she had to be expecting some word from him.

Teagan could only hope this would suffice in his absence.

She’d never thought about it. Everyone knew that Grey Wardens were all but sterile. It generally took a miracle, Bethany was told, for a Warden to end up pregnant.

Apparently, the Maker had decided she was due a miracle.

Trials (HTBD 140)

tempus-teapot:

cherith replied to your post: Last days

Oh Tempus dear, DA:O prompts. Would you write me Cullen/Leliana. Does that count? If that is hard to wrap your brain around, how about Zevran/Leliana instead?

Cullen/Leliana wasn’t actually that hard to wrap my head around, which kind of surprised me.

Trials

“Drink.” Leliana pressed the water skin into Cullen’s hands and helped him raise it to his cracked and bleeding lips. “Slowly or you’ll be ill.”

She pretended not to notice how his hands shook under hers or how his lips trembled. She could tell him they were natural reactions to what he had been through, but he hardly needed reminding of that, did he?

Her hands were also shaking. After what she and her companions had seen and done in this tower, only a monster would be unmoved. Later she would pry the tale out of the warden, but from the thin press of his lips and the rigid set of his shoulders, she could see that now was not the time. He had known many of the mages who had died in the tower, counted many as friends; she was not so insensitive as to demand a recounting of the Fade from him now.

He had looked on Cullen with an expression that said he was two steps from giving the templar the death he had begged for earlier before he turned on his heel to hover over Wynne while she tended to the wounded.

Cullen let her pull the water skin away from his lips before he drank too much and nodded his thanks. “I’m sorry for what I said earlier. You don’t know what they did to us – to me.”

Leliana thought of what they had faced in the Harrowing Chamber and flinched away from the memory. She thought she had a better idea than she ever wanted to.

She helped him walk to the wall and helped him slide down until he could lean there then slid down beside him. She helped him take a few more sips of water before she took his hand for simple human comfort and murmured, “Maker, though the darkness comes upon me, I shall embrace the light, I shall weather the storm.”

She paused and turned her head to see Cullen watching her. She summoned a smile for him and nodded, and when she continued reciting the Canticle of Trials, he added his voice to hers, “I shall endure. What you have created, no one can tear asunder.”

Oh my goodness!!! I don’t know how I missed this earlier, but thank you Tempus!

Cullen/Leliana my very rarest of pairs.  <33333

cherith asked: 1 and 15 want to runaway and live the grand and exciting life of pirating on the high seas. 12 tries to talk them out of it.

Sometimes I make jokes about laughing hard enough to scare the cats. But tonight, they literally came upstairs to see what was wrong. The looks on their faces made me laugh even harder. Thank you. <3

“You can’t be serious about this.” Bethany looked back and forth between her sister’s servant and his new business partner, some princess recently arrived from a far-away country she’d never heard of. But the bag packed at Bodahn Feddic’s feet, and the fact that he’d come by the Gallows to say goodbye, seemed fairly strong signs. “You can’t really be leaving Kirkwall for a life of piracy. Hasn’t my sister been good to you?”

“Very good, Miss Bethany,” Bodahn assured her. “But I’ve been here long enough. Time for me to move on, see new challenges, explore new business opportunities.”

“What about Sandal?” Bethany asked.

“Oh, he’s coming along,” he replied, heartily. “Wouldn’t miss it! He wanted to come by, but, well, you know. The Gallows make him nervous. Can’t say I blame him,” he added in a low voice, glancing quickly around to make sure no Templars were in earshot. “So he’s waiting on the ship. But he sends his best.”

With a sigh of exasperation, Bethany turned to the woman, who had introduced herself as Ashe. “And you? You’re a princess, or so they say. Don’t you have a country to rule, obligations to attend to?”

Ashe shook her head, blue eyes steeled with resolve. “Once, it was so, but circumstances have changed me. A dear friend showed me that there are other paths to walk, that I need not be chained by the circumstances of my birth. I have chosen freedom, and Bodahn Feddic will help me take this journey.”

Bethany looked between them, saw the determination they shared, and discarded all the other arguments she might have made — chances were that Marian had attempted all the same avenues already. “All right. Well, best of luck to you then.” She embraced Bodahn and kissed him on the cheek — “for Sandal,” she said — and then they were gone, heading for the ship that awaited them on the Gallows dock. It pulled out and into the harbor; Bethany watched until it disappeared over the horizon, not sure whether she was more worried for Bodahn and Sandal, or jealous that she wasn’t going with them.
