So, I live in that little part of the country where the colors seem to sporadically meet somewhere around Pop/Soda & Coke. And, while it seems (according to this chart) Pop is the most popular in these parts, I never say pop, I’ve always say Soda. And everyone I know says soda. The difference has never bothered me, unless someone says Coke for something that is not a Coca-Cola.
